Dear Prayer Partners,
October was a busy month. There were many highs and lows. Last week was the end of the first quarter of the school year. This meant a lot of grading, meetings, and extra responsibilities at school. This week the power company accidentally cut our power leaving us without air conditioners and light in our apartment for three days. It has been easy for me to feel physically and mentally worn. I am currently participating in a Bible study with other missionary women here that is focused on Psalm 23. This has been encouraging me when I feel weak and weary. I have been reminding myself that my good shepherd makes me lie down by green pastures and restores my soul. He has been reminding me of the many things I have to be thankful for in the midst of it all and I want to share those things in this newsletter.
Updates
On October 5th my church hosted a youth event called "Supermatch." Word of Life ministries invited multiple youth groups from the area and helped put on a special night of games, worship, and preaching for over 100 teenagers. I had the opportunity to help lead worship for this event. It was exciting to see so many young people worshipping together and having the opportunity to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel.
As many of you know, my roommate and I had been praying over and raising money to purchase a car for the last few months. On October 12th we finally got our car! We are so thankful for the way the Lord provided. We have already been able to use the car to drive to Bible studies, church, chapel, youth group, and to help give other people rides to events as well. Thank you so much to all those who donated and prayed for this.
On October 27th we celebrated the one-year anniversary of our INVI chapel. It has been a blessing to be able to serve at this chapel each week and we are thankful for the ways the Lord has used this chapel in the last year. We have had new members of the community start to come little by little. We look forward to the ways the Lord will continue to grow this chapel and reach new members of this community in the coming year.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for me as I am learning to drive here in the DR. Driving within our city can be very stressful. There are a lot of one way roads, motorcycles, and tight spaces. Many drivers do not follow traffic laws and go straight through stop signs and stop lights or go the wrong way down the road. Please pray for protection, wisdom, and patience as I learn to navigate these challenges.
We are still in the process of getting all the legal paperwork done for our car. Please pray that all of this goes smoothly and is able to be completed quickly.
My roommate and I are going out of town for the weekend to take a bit of a retreat. Please pray that we are able to experience physical, mental, and spiritual rest this weekend and come back feeling refreshed and ready to continue serving.
Thank you for continuing to follow along with my ministry and being faithful in prayer. I am thankful for your support and encouragement.
Blessings,
Natasha
